Volunteer code of conduct

Nathan Barton welcomes volunteers to Team Nathan who share his values and vision for an inclusive, democratic political process representing the issues that matter to the voters of Moore.

This Code of Conduct is designed to ensure volunteers understand what is reasonably expected of them when representing Nathan Barton as a volunteer.

You agree that in your role as a Team Nathan volunteer you will:

  1. Act in accordance with Nathan’s undertaking to conduct a positive campaign, consistent with Nathan’s values of honesty, integrity and accountability.
  2. Operate in a healthy and safe manner, to facilitate an equitable and inclusive environment free from harassment or discrimination of any kind.
  3. Treat everyone with respect, kindness and generosity, including your fellow volunteers, the Moore community and those who disagree with you.
  4. Treat personal information in accordance with the Team Nathan Privacy Policy and any legal obligations regarding privacy.
  5. Perform all duties in accordance with any applicable laws and take necessary steps to always ensure your safety and the safety of others.
  6. Only undertake duties that you are authorised to perform and follow reasonable directions and instructions that you are given.
  7. Use any property or equipment given to you safely and only for the purpose of volunteering and return it to the organisation when you finish.
  8. In the event of any conflict, try to resolve any issues as set out in the Volunteers Guide and promptly inform the Volunteer Manager.

You acknowledge and understand that:

  1. Nathan and Team Nathan do not tolerate:
    • Any inappropriate language or behaviour, including any language or behaviour that discriminates against another person based on their race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, or any other form of discrimination;
    • Disrespectful conduct towards political opponents and their supporters;
    • Harassment and / or bullying; or
    • Intentional misuse of campaign data and privacy information.
  2. All duties you undertake for Team Nathan are carried out on a voluntary basis, and you will not receive remuneration or payment for this work.
  3. Personal information that is shared with you by Team Nathan is done so for the purposes of promoting and receiving feedback, including campaign events, volunteer activities and related administration purposes. Any use outside of the prescribed purposes is strictly prohibited.
  4. The consumption of alcohol during volunteering or at any Team Nathan events, including campaign events and meetings, must be done responsibly.
  5. If you do not uphold this Code of Conduct, Team Nathan may, in its sole discretion, advise you that you can no longer act as a Team Nathan volunteer nor actively participate in any Team Nathan activities and events.
