Election Called: Independent Nathan Barton Ready to Give Moore a Real Choice

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has called the federal election for Saturday 3 May, and Independent candidate for Moore, Nathan Barton, says he's ready to give voters a real alternative to party politics.

"I'm excited the election has finally been called and I can't wait to give the people of Moore a genuine, community-based choice this time," said Mr Barton.

As a local small business owner, psychologist and former Army Reservist, Mr Barton says he brings a practical, evidence-based approach to tackling the challenges facing the community.

"Having knocked on thousands of doors in Moore, I understand the issues that matter to people in our area - from cost of living pressures to housing and rental affordability. We need representation that puts people before parties to deliver real solutions, not short-term fixes," said Mr Barton.

"Unlike the major parties, I'm not beholden to outside interests or party bosses. My only loyalty is to our community. I'll work hard to be a strong, independent voice for Moore in Canberra."

The recent disunity in the WA Liberal Party, including the ousting of the sitting member for Moore, highlights the need for a different type of representation, according to Mr Barton.

"Local people are tired of the infighting and games. They just want someone who will put the community's interests first. I'm determined to be that person and deliver a new, more positive kind of leadership for Moore," said Mr Barton.

"Over the coming weeks, I look forward to meeting even more locals to hear about their concerns and hopes for our area. The people of Moore deserve an MP who will listen, act with integrity, and work constructively to get things done. That's how I’ve worked throughout my career and that’s the kind of representative I will be for Moore."
